Description
High-quality multifunctional 2-component acrylic primer with anti-corrosion additives. Thanks to the use of advanced technology and high-class ingredients, the product has a very wide range of applications. It works perfectly both as a filling undercoat and an insulating primer. It can be applied directly to metal, providing excellent anticorrosion protection for areas sanded to bare steel. It insulates difficult substrates and body fillers very well from varnish coatings, protecting them against the so-called mapping effect. An additional advantage of the primer is the possibility of applying it “wet on wet”, no sanding required.
Mixing the 3 colors of primer available in the right proportions allows you to obtain 2 additional colors, making it possible to work in the full spectrum of the grey system and select the recommended color of primer for the target base coat color.
Advantages
- Excellent anti-corrosion protection of steel
- Strong adhesion to various types of surfaces
- Very good insulating and filling properties
- Very short curing time
- Can be applied using the “wet on wet” technique
- Working in the spectral gray system.
Substrates
Mutifunctional acrylic primer DTM PRIMER SEALER can be applied directly on:
- Steel and aluminum after matting and degreasing.
- Zinc-coated steel and galvanized steel after matting and degreasing.
- Sanded glass fibre-polyester laminates (GFK/GRP).
- Polyester body fillers and putties.
- Epoxy primers.
- Wash primers.
- Old paint coatings in good condition after matting and degreasing.
Good surface preparation is essential to achieve the best repair results.

Use
For car repairs. As a sanding primer (in the filling or isolating version) and for the application wet on wet.

Mixing proportion by volume
Primer: 4
Hardener: 1
Thinner:
- 5-10% for filling version
- 15- 20% for isolating version
- 25-30% for wet on wet
Stir thoroughly until obtaining a homogenous mixture.

Mixing proportion by weight
Primer: 100
Hardener: 17,4
Stir thoroughly until obtaining a homogenous mixture.

Spraying viscosity
40÷30 seconds at 20°C as a filling primer (thinner 5-10%)
25÷20 seconds at 20°C as an isolating primer (thinner 15-20%)
19÷17 seconds at 20°C as wet on wet (thinner 25-30%)

Pot life for the mixture
About 15 minutes at 20°C for filling and isolating versions
About 20 minutes at 20°C for wet on wet.

Number of layers
Sanding version:
1÷2 layers
Filling primer - approx. 80 µm for each dry layer.
Isolating primer - ok. 50 µm for each dry layer.
RP gun parameters
Nozzle: 1,6÷2,0 mm; Pressue: 2,0÷2,2 bar.
HVLP gun parameters
Nozzle: 1,5÷1,7 mm; Inlet pressure: 2,0 bar.
Wet on wet version:
1,5 layers
approx. 30µm for each dry layer.
RP gun parameters
Nozzle: 1,2÷1,4 mm; Pressure: 2,0-2,2 bar.
HVLP gun parameters
Nozzle: 1,3÷1,5 mm; Inlet pressure: 2,0 bar.

Flash off time
Between layers: 5-10 minutes
Before applying solvent basecoat system: about 20 minutes
Before applying waterborne basecoat system: about 30 minutes
Flash off time depends on the temperature and coating thickness.

Drying time
Drying time at 20°C:
Isolating primer /50÷100 µm/ready for sanding after 1,5÷2,5 h.
Filling primer /80÷160 µm/ready for sanding after 2÷3 h.
Baking time for panel temperature of 60°C
Isolating primer /50÷100 µm/ ready for sanding after baking for 15÷20 minutes and surface cooling (about 1h).
Filling primer /80÷160 µm/ ready for sanding after baking for 20÷30 minutes and surface cooling (about 1h).
Temperatures below 20°C significantly increase the drying time.

IR drying
Isolating primer /50÷-100 µm/: 6÷8 minutes under short wave.
Filling primer /80÷160 µm/: 8÷10 minutes under short wave.
Do not exceed maximum temperature of 60°C.
Use according to the recommendations of the equipment manufacturer.
Wait about 10 minutes before starting IR drying.

Wet sanding
Machine sanding: P600÷P1000
Manual sanding: P800÷P1000.
Wet on wet version does not require sanding!

Dry sanding
Machine sanding: P360÷P500.
Manual sanding: P320÷P500.
Wet on wet version does not require sanding!

Further work
2K acrylic primers can be directly over coated with:
- 2K top coats.
- 1K base coats.
And also:
- 2K polyester body filler and putties.
- 2K acrylic primers

General notes
- Do not exceed recommended doses of the hardener!
- The best repair results can be achieved by painting at room temperature. The temperature in the body shop and the temperature of the product should be similar. When working with 2K products, it is recommended to use personal protection equipment. Protect the eyes and airways.
- The rooms should be well ventilated.
- Clean the guns and equipment immediately after use.
Caution: To maintain safety, always follow the instructions given in the MSDS for the products.
