Description

2K high build acrylic primer designed for car body repairs.

Universal high filling primer with very good very good adhesion to aluminum surfaces and excellet vertical stability.

Substrates

Acrylic primer 4:1 can be applied over:

  • Steel and aluminum after flatting and degreasing.
  • Zinc coated steel and galvanized steel after flatting and degreasing.
  • Sanded glass polyester laminates (GFK/GRP).
  • Polyester body fillers and putties
  • Epoxy primers.
  • Wash primers.
  • Grouding primers.
  • Sanded old coatings in good condition.
  • Good surface preparation is essential to achieve the best repair results.

Application process

Use

High filling primer for car body repair.

Mixing ratio by volume

Primer: 4
Hardener: 1
Thinner: 15÷20%

Mix thoroughly until a homogeneous consistency is obtained.

Spraying viscosity

about 30÷50 seconds at 20°C

Pot life for the mixture

about 1 h at 20°C.

Number of layers

2÷3 layers; 150÷300µm.
RP gun parameters
Nozzle: 1,6÷2,0 mm; Pressure: 2,0÷2,2 bar.
HVLP gun parameters
Nozzle: 1,5÷1,9 mm; Inlet pressure: 2,0 bar.

Flash off time

Between layers: approx. 5 minutes
Before baking: approx. 10 minutes

Flash off time depends on the temperature and the number of layers.

Drying time for coating thickness of 200 µm

3-4 hours at 20°C
30 minutes at 60°C.

Temperatures below 20°C significantly increases the hardening time.

IR drying

15÷20 minutes under short wave for coating thickness of 150÷200 µm.
Do not exceed maximum temperature of 60°C.
Use according to the recommendations of the equipment manufacturer.
Wait about 10 minutes before starting IR drying.

Dry sanding

Machine sanding: P360÷P500.
Manual sanding: P280÷P320.

Wet sanding

Machine sanding: P600÷P1000.
Manual sanding: P800÷P1000.

Further work

2K acrylic fillers can be directly over coated with:

- 2K acrylic topcoats.
- 1K basecoats.

General notes

- Do not exceed recommended doses of the hardener!
- The best repair results can be achieved at room temperature. The temperature in the body shop and the temperature of the product should be similar
- When working with 2K products, it is recommended to use personal protection equipment. Protect the eyes and air ways.
- The rooms should be well ventilated.
- Clean the guns and equipment immediately after use.
